All I have in my head is the soundtrack to a Miyazaki film (so sad to see he's retiring). It's so adventurous, ambitious and whimsical. One of my favorite submissions to Newgrounds of all time. The song really takes the listener on a journey. I got imagery from this, lots of imagery. Flowing fields, forests, a lone person or a group traveling a lush green countryside with the wind at their backs.

This is such a fun composition to listen to. 5/5 across the board.

BlazingDragon responds:

Thank you so much! Miyazaki is one of my heroes and his films are a major source of inspiration for me. You rock. :)

Reminiscent of the barren, lonely and often spooky isolation an desolation of both the locations and music of the Metroid Prime games. It gave me chills... Heh, a pun on the name of the song... >_> But really, this is incredible and I love the slow, unsettling mysteriousness of it. I'm not sure if you did this in a certain key, but if you did, it can't get more perfect than this. Can't spot keys and all that, so sorry if I'm being a bit ignorant - I appreciate creativity in music (and this piece brings it), but I can only really "visualize" my own melodies and such, as I lack the abilities to read/write music, and I won't even go into my keyboard/guitar "skill level".

Anyway, enough of that tangent. More comments! At 1:26-27, that 8-bit-ish sytnth kicks in. I'm not sure if you're familiar with the Game Boy Advance series "Boktai" (if you're one of us lucky few to have played even just one of the games, you're a blessed soul), but the second half of the song kinda instantly make me think of the way the music in said games plays out, what with all the other instruments in the background.

Very well done. I've had this looping for about 20 minutes now, so clearly this is a winner, haha. Rating 5/5 And giving 5/5 stars.

Jonicorn responds:

Woooooow man, thank YOU! Haha, i LOVE the music in the metroid prime games. Although I wasn't directly influenced when I made this, maybe it had been slowly been cooking and somehow boiled down to this.
Nope I didnt place it in a certain key, but it certanley is in one^^ Cant say what key right now though...
Yeah, I actually have the same problem, since i cant write/read sheetmusic in such a pace that it benefits my workflow. So what happens is that I have this idea, try to make it as closley as I can to that in a midi program or on a guitar, but since I have to "listen for the melody" rather than just write it down from the top of my head, it never is quite as I pictured it. But this song really came out nice anyway!

Nope! I have not played Boktai, but I have heard of it and now I certanly will try to get my hands on it, in some form.

And that, that you had this looping for 20 minutes, it's just wow. I'm so happy that you liked it. Thanks for listening! I have no idea when il be making more, but check back in maybe a couple of months and there'l be something new.. Maybe.

Thanks for the review!

This is totally amazing and I have not been able to not listen to it for more than a few hours apart. XD

I know this was created using digital means, but if you're skilled in tab-writing, it would be so cool to learn how to play the rhythm of this song. I've been learning to play guitar and I think this is the style that I would like to follow-up into.... Especially since I do weird, off-beat animations.

DragonX016 responds:

The Rhythm part...It follows very similar chord changes as Autumn Leaves. If you learn the chord changes to that one (which...isn't a bad idea because it's the go-to jazz standard), you'll be able to pick out the changes in this. It's in Gmin. I know for sure-there's not a chord in this that's not in Autumn Leaves. If I ever get around to charting it, I'll put the changes up in the description. Cheers and thanks so much for the kind words!

AHHH! THE NOSTALGIA. THE AMAZINGNESS. THE FEELS.

Great job with this remix. It takes the quirky and slow-paced original and makes it hectic, ubeat and crazy! I love the implementation of Grunty's laugh and Banjo's "D'oh!" Definitely helps it. The more intense drum beats at certain points gave me chills. Overall, a very impressive piece that blew me away.

Thanks dood

This is really cool. Has a very Metal Gear Solid vibe to it. Might just be me, though. XD Regardless, this is an impeccable piece and I love the climactic feeling to it.

F4LL0UT responds:

Thanks. An extended version that I created specifically for Arkuni's Versus Umbra can be found on YouTube (titled Bossfight Redux). And yeah, I think I know what you mean with the MGS thing. It's of course not nearly as good as the MGS soundtracks but I also sometimes get that vibe. :D

I'm speechless... I just kinda clicked this and suddenly my min was instantly blown out of my skull.

You deserve an award because this is one of, if not the all-time coolest video game son covers I have ever heard.

AEPfx responds:

Wow glad you like it so much, p4 is one of my favorite games ever so I tried to really give the soundtrack covers I've done the love they deserve.

This is awesome. It's reminiscent of SOMETHING I listen to, but I can't pinpoint what... Either way, this is incredible. The vocals fit the music perfectly and it's a really good listen. Kudos to you, my friend. Kudos. To. You.

IIPhase responds:

Thank you very much!!!

I always loved Mario & Luigi music... The final boss theme from Bowser's Inside Story is like some weird mix of M&L plus Kingdom Hearts, and I always found it to be completely amazing.

Glad to hear a pretty unique twist on this theme. I need to rebuy this game sometime to re-hear this song in-game (I lost my copy of the game at some point) again.

Very well represented. the theme is there, but you added a lot of flavor and charisma to it. I greatly enjoyed your rendition of this song, and it definitely kept me listening the entire time. SO AWESOME.

AeronMusic responds:

Yoko Shimomura (she composed the music from the Mario and Luigi RPG series and also this original of this one) also composed Kingdom Hearts, you know? Thanks for the comment!

Why is this loop so goddamn perfect? It's the perfect loop for a villain or some sort of ominous person. The chord progression plus the overall droniness of it just makes for the perfect bad-yet-awesome vibe.

I love it beyond belief. I MUST use this in the project I'm working on currently! It'll fit the bad guy oh-so perfectly!

stab101 responds:

This isn't even good for 10 seconds of footage man, I can extend it out for you. Just shoot me back a PM or something, ok?

I must listen to this song three times a day, every day. It's brilliant and I can't get enough of it. Where are the other songs on NG like this? I want mooooooore!!

SHADOWFOX2 responds:

That's a lot of times to listen to this song a day...
Well, when Lenko returns in 2050, I will have another one ready
Thanks for your thoughts
